Reform backlog in old-age provision: Why the pension is not fully secure

Germany is getting older and older, and at the same time fewer children are being born. This puts the statutory pension system in a precarious position. Although this has been known for a long time, there is a lack of reforms. Why this is so? And what could help to overcome (partially) the challenges?
