The coronavirus pandemic has posed major challenges for science, politics and society. In order to better assess the pandemic, a Scientific Advisory Board was convened for the Thuringian government in May 2020. This Scientific Advisory Board was made up of scientists from Thuringian scientific institutions and reflected a wide range of disciplines: law, ethics and social sciences, geography, information processing, politics and medicine. Prof. Silke Uebelmesser was part of the Advisory Board.

The aim was to form an interdisciplinary body that could scientifically illuminate the decision-making space for political decisions.

When the advisory board was convened in May 2020, intensive consultations took place both within the board and with political decision-makers and the cabinet. The Advisory Board had two tasks: (1) Advising the state government on the pandemic and pandemic control measures; the Advisory Board responded to specific inquiries from the state government, but also took the initiative. (2) Presentation of a review of the pandemic and pandemic impact management and formulation of recommendations for future events of this kind.

The Scientific Advisory Board commented in various ways. The report contains the results in chronological order.
