Dr. Simon Oertel studied business administration and political science at the Trier University of Applied Sciences and the University of Erfurt. After completing his studies, he worked as a research fellow at the chair of Organization, Leadership and Human Resource Management of Prof. Dr. Peter Walgenbach at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. After completing his PhD at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (2010) and during his subsequent postdoc phase, he was a visiting scholar at WU Vienna and Stanford University. Since the summer semester 2018 he is the Interim Professor for organization and management at the BTU Cottbus. From 2019 to 2021 Simon Oertel was a postdoc at the Department of Management and Organization at the Technical University of Ilmenau. Simon Oertel is a member of the German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB), the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS), the Academy of Management (AoM)m and the international network New Institutionalism.
